Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you provide treatment?
Mind-Body Pediatric Psychiatry offers telehealth services for children and adolescents living in Illinois. Care is delivered virtually through secure video platforms, making access convenient and flexible for families across the state.
Is seeing a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner the same as seeing a Psychiatrist?
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) and Psychiatrists are both trained to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions using medications and psychotherapy. Numerous studies have shown that patient outcomes for NPs are equivalent to, and sometimes better than, those of physicians. For example, research has demonstrated that NPs provide care with comparable quality, effectiveness, and patient satisfaction as physicians in various settings, including primary care and specialty practices (AANP, BMJ).
Do you accept insurance?
We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. For patients with other insurance plans, we can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. Many families find our cash-pay options affordable and flexible. Payment is due at the time of service.
How soon can my child be seen?
We prioritize immediate access to care. Most new patients can be scheduled within 1–2 weeks. Our telehealth model allows for flexible appointment times, including evenings, to meet the needs of busy families.
What ages do you work with?
We specialize in pediatric psychiatry for children and adolescents, ages 3 to 17 years old. Our holistic, developmentally tailored approach supports mental health across all stages of childhood and adolescence.
Do you offer holistic and integrative mental health care?
Yes. Mind-Body Pediatric Psychiatry takes a holistic, integrative approach. In addition to traditional psychiatric treatments like medication management, we incorporate nutrition, sleep, lifestyle factors, mindfulness, supplements, and emotional development to treat the whole child — mind and body.
What conditions do you treat?
We treat a range of pediatric mental health concerns, including ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, trauma-related symptoms, behavioral challenges, and mood disorders. Personalized care plans are created for each child based on their unique needs and family goals.
